The 4E’s are operational

It is well known that there are 4 simple behaviours that can reduce and improve over 80% of all chronic medical diseases and premature death.  Conditions like heart disease, cancer, strokes (CVA) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease/emphysema (COPD) to name a few.  They all can be improved and prevented if we all started with the basics of healthy living.  Remember, we all will die, but it is premature death and loss of quality of life in the final years is what the name of the game is!

1st E: Eat healthy – this starts with 5 vegetable and fruit servings a day.

2nd E: Exercise – it only takes 2.5 hours a week or 21 minutes a day of brisk walking or other physical activity to keep the Doctor away!

3rd E: Ethanol (alcohol) – the chemical name for alcohol is ethanol. So limit ethanol to 7 drinks a week or 1 a day or less.

4th E: Eliminate tobacco – do what it takes to quit smoking.  It will save your life one day! 😀
